Lianas, scrambling to moderately high climbing. Tendrils 3–4 (–5) -branched, without adhesive discs. Leaves palmately compound; petiole ± equaling blade; leaflets (5–) 7, lustrous adaxially, oblanceolate to oblong-oblanceolate, 3–5 × 1–2 cm, thick, fleshy, base cuneate, margins coarsely dentate, apex acuminate, surfaces glabrous or abaxial puberulent. Inflorescences dichotomously branched, without distinct central axis. Flowers greenish to reddish green. Berries subglobose, 6–10 mm diam.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jun; fruiting Aug–Sep.
Habitat: Woods, riverbanks, rocky or sandy soils.
Elevation: 300–700 m.

Discussion

Parthenocissus heptaphylla is endemic to the Edwards Plateau and Lampasas Cut Plain.
