Cauline leaves: proximal strongly lyrate-pinnate, distal simple and 3-lobed (divided less than 3/4 to base), lobes rhombic-oblong. Pedicels densely puberulent with scattered longer hairs, eglandular. 2n = 42.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–summer.
Habitat: Wet meadows, stream banks, thickets, moist woods, clearings, coastal terraces, forest edges, roadsides
Elevation: 0–1500 m

Discussion

Alaskan specimens of var. macrophyllum often have relatively few stalked glands on the styles and some appear almost glandless.

Variety macrophyllum hybridizes with Geum rivale (= G. ×pulchrum Fernald); see discussion under 8. G. rivale.
